Ukraine has officially cancelled the awarding of gold and silver medals to school-leavers. The relevant order of the Ministry of Education and Science came into force after being registered with the Ministry of Justice.
The changes mean that there will be no more gold or silver medals, which were traditionally awarded to students for special academic achievements. Instead, the wording ‘with honours’ will be used in educational documents.
This decision is part of broader education reforms aimed at updating the grading system and bringing it in line with modern standards. At the same time, graduates who demonstrate a high level of knowledge will continue to receive a certificate of complete secondary education with honours.
